STREICHE

At the beginning of the millennium in several European metropolises writers began to experiment with graffiti writing – not only on the rules on traditional stylewriting but also on the preferred tools to leave their names. Coating paint which before has mostly been used for priming walls to use spray paint quickly established as mean to work on large scale spots in a minimum amount of time.

In STREICHE (shortened for ‘Streichfarbe’ / ‘paint’ in German) the publisher did choose writers who mastered this tool after observing the scene for more than 20 years in different cities like Berlin, Frankfurt or Copenhagen. In selected shots, each one filling one page or even a spread, he put together outstanding examples of writers who use paint as commonly for writing as the spray can.

The content shows iconic works like big LOST SOUL tags in the heart of Berlin, unmatched two colour pieces by Frankfurt’s legendary CPUK, or KLOPS who puts the genre to another level with his amazing pieces using often times only one colour at all. The conceptional zine consists of photos from 2002-2025 and features AGÄHN, AKIM, A.LIE, ARIS, BOSS89, CBS, FAX’R, FFF, IDEE, ITSO, JOLIE, KARIES, KEGR, PHARAO, RAUB, REM (RED EYE MOBB), ROGER, SAO PAULO, SPAIR, SPYO, TAHKI68, TECHR, TOMCAT and VERGISS.

STREICHE comes as a 56-paged limited edition zine of 100 copies, each one numbered by hand and is the first kind of publication on this topic.
