FLIP THE SCRIPT (Chaz Bojórquez cover)

A Guidebook for Aspiring Vandals & Typographers
by Christian P. Acker

“Graffiti is one of the last strongholds of highly refined penmanship. The most reviled and persecuted form of graffiti, the tag, is seldom appreciated for its raw beauty, balance, and skeletal form. Within these pages, some of the most accomplished writers offer their complete alphabets. Christian Acker presents these lettering samples in a clean, formal manner, evoking classic type specimens and calligraphy manuals.”

In FLIP THE SCRIPT, author Christian P. Acker showcases and analyzes some of the best writers in the United States from almost 50 years of graffiti history, organized into eight style areas across the country. Each chapter highlights representative writers and their tags, displays their alphabets, and attempts to reveal the history behind the style of each area.

The 224-paged hardcover, presents the styles in a well-organized format similar to classic typography books. To celebrate the book’s 10th anniversary, it features a highly reflective metallic dust jacket designed by Los Angeles legend Chaz Bojórquez.
