DSB3 – Adam Kraft & E.B. Itso
35,00 €
The duo Adam Kraft, aka ADAMS (SE), and E.B. Itso (DK) once built a hidden house inside Copenhagen Central Station and managed to keep its existence concealed. When construction work on the station began in 2007, workers discovered their secret project by coincidence, and it soon became public through local newspapers and TV shows. In a statesmanlike manner, the station’s chief inspector assured the audience that such an intervention would not be possible again. The duo responded by building a second hidden loft, which still exists today: “This is a proclamation that we view as a playful challenge: a game of contested space” (Adam Kraft. Key Notes on the Unruly City, p. 114).
The city’s central station, however, remained a playground for them. In 2009, the adjacent area belonging to the Danish State Railways (DSB – Danske Statsbaner) was being privatized, and many changes were announced in the months to follow. In November 2009, ADAMS and E.B. Itso lifted an abandoned worker’s shack onto a hand-built wooden rail cart and pushed it to the outskirts of the city, creating their third house project connected to the DSB: “With the condition of the terminal tracks, the itinerant fantasy comes back to life: to vacate one of the small cabins that are resting along the railroad” (Adam Kraft. Key Notes on the Unruly City, p. 120).
The 224-page flipbook DSB3 documents the process of moving the shack and features a striking letterpress cover. The publication has been sold out for many years. Adam recently rediscovered a box of copies, which we are now able to offer to you.
If you want to know which adventurous journey this shack made from Copenhagen, we recommend to read KEY NOTES ON THE UNRULY CITY by Adam Kraft.
