QUIK – RETROSPECTIVE 1980-2026
37,00 €
When art galleries in New York and Europe started to acknowledge graffiti writing as an art form and started to put up exhibitions in the late 1970s and early 80s only a few artists with a graffiti background made it into the art world. To this day names like CRASH, DAZE, DELTA2, KOOL KOOR, LADY PINK, SONIC, BILL BLAST, QUIK or BLADE are mentioned when it comes to writers who really established themselves as artists over decades. In 2011 Luca Cinquetti found Arena Studio d’Arte – a gallery which in the recent years held exhibitions with these major artists in Verona, Italy.
The gallery’s first show in 2026 features New Yorks legendary subway writer QUIK from the Rolling Thunder Writers. The retrospect which spans over 45 years gives insight into his range of works that have been on display from February to April of this year. Coming from the 70s train scene Lin QUIK Felton started as early as 1980 with producing works for the art world.
Traditional New York graffiti sceneries like skylines, trains, characters and traditional shaped pieces as well can be found on his canvases. Retrospective 1980–2026 also includes rare sketches from the late 70s and early 80s plus paperworks executed on NY subway maps from the recent years.
The 72-paged softcover includes a short essay by Agnese Campioni and is limited to 100 hand-numbered copies. Since these exhibition catalogues often become pricey and hard to find gems over time we recommend to get them now for the original price before they are sold out and get expensive collectibles.
