YAKI’S SCRAPBOOK – GALERIE YAKI KORNBLIT 1983
49,00 €
At this year’s outstanding Hallenkunst exhibition in Chemnitz a detailed timeline was presented including the most important benchmarks in the history of graffiti writing. Besides showing works from selected writers the Dutch gallery owner Yaki Kornblit was honoured with a small edition publication to this occasion.
On a 1981 trip to New York he fell in love with the works from writers who already did local exhibitions back then. Through FUTURA2000 Yaki got in touch with BLADE, LEE, ZEPHYR, DONDI and others, developed the idea to bring them to Europe and exhibit their works in his gallery in Amsterdam. The Galerie Yaki Kornblit was one of the earliest to present writer’s canvas works in overseas and instead of doing only group shows its owner created solo exhibitions with the artists and invited them to the Netherlands.
Yaki Kornblit’s scrapbook is a rare insight into his work and the times of 1983 and 1984. It is a replica of his original scrapbook and features never before published newspaper clippings, photos, letters, invitation cards, exhibition views and shots from the shown works in the gallery with DONDI, Henry Chalfant, FUTURA2000, Lee Quiñones, RAMMELLZEE, QUIK, ZEPHYR, BLADE, SEEN, NOC167, CRASH, BLAST, and more.
The 112-paged large format softcover opens with a foreword by Aileen MICK LA ROCK Middel and was published as a limited edition of 300 copies only. We were able to get our hands on a few of them and are happy to offer you this collectors item just after its release.
We recommend seeing the beautiful arranged show in Chemnitz since it might the the most important exhibitions of the year. It runs until 21st September 2025 and is definitely worth a visit!
