Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978) was an important American architect and conceptual artist who was specialized in intervention and deconstruction. As New York originated observer of his home town he began to take photos of the upcoming namewriting phenomenon in the summer of 1972. Although documenting the movement in more than 2000 photos until autumn of 1973 only a small percentage was exhibited as part of his Photoglyph collage works in the 70s.

From 20th March until 17th May 2025 the West Village, Manhattan located White Columns Gallery in New York did show selected photographs from the recently discovered extensive Gordon Matta-Clark archives. Curated by Roger Gastman and Jessamyn Fiore for the first time ever these photographs have been exhibited together with original works from contemporary writers from this era like SNAKE, SJK171, LEE163d, WICKED GARY, TRACY168., COCO144, STAY HIGH 149, or FUTURA2000. In addition Matta-Clark’s Photoglyph collages have been on display as well as part of the exhibition.

The 98-paged exhibition catalogue was printed in a limited first edition of 200 copies. We are excited being able to offer you a small number of this rare collectors item now exclusively in Europe!
