PRESENTE CONTINUO – Ivano ‘DUMBO’ Atzori

PRESENTE CONTINUO is a large sized hardcover focusing on Ivano Atzori, better known as DUMBO, one of Milano’s most important writers. While in his previous book ‘Acts of Vandalism and Stories of Love’ from 2007 mainly writing and the surrounding lifestyle was captured, his latest book spreads to Ivano’s full body work.

In non-chronological order we are able to follow him from his roots in graffiti writing starting in the 1990s, through the founding of Milano’s King Kong store in 2001, his activities in fashion and photography over the years which finally led to the founding of the Pretziada design studio in 2015. Besides tons of amazing photographs the content consists of eight main texts from friends, business and crew partners, fans like The Tag Collector, or an interview with his wife Kyre by Andrea Ceresa.

“People either loved him or hated him – there was no middle ground, no nuance. He rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, but those who loved him practically worshipped him.”

Throughout his career he carried on writing graffiti with companions like PANDA, RISK, GEES, CLAW, ASTER, TEACH, SACER, SHAMPO, AMAZE, JAKE, BNE, JOSH, or VIETNAM99. So luckily a big part of the book’s content are drippy tags, full colour panels, throw-ups, action shots, or trackside pieces from Milano, Rome, Cairo, Stuttgart, New York, Berlin, Cagliari, London, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Paris, Monaco, or Amsterdam of which some date back to 1997, but also many brand new works from the recent years are featured.

PRESENTE CONTINUO gives a more comprehensive and more complete view on DUMBO’s activities over the last three decades with beautiful shots and interesting texts and statements on 352 pages. If you liked his first book, you will love this one!
