OSGEMEOS – Endless Story

The São Paulo based twin brothers Gustavo and Otávio Pandolfo form the street art duo known world wide as Os Gêmeos (the twins). With Endless Story for the first time ever a major mongraph focuses on the brothers’ astonishing career in the art world to the occasion of their current museum show at the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. which runs until August 2025.

Starting in 1987 with the first international wave of hip hop the twins immediately got hooked to breakdance, DJing and graffiti writing. Although tags, throw-ups and pieces are part of their œuvre to this day, they are internationally best known for their eye-catching and unique yellow characters.

With these trademark they entered the uprising international street art scene in the early 2000s from San Francisco, Berlin, Munich, London to New York. As the characters grew larger and even evolved to monumental sculptures as part of installations, the artists always made sure to stick to their roots by combining traditional Brazilian stylistic folk elements in their characters and references to their hip hop origins.

The massive hardcover gives insights into their huge body of work from four decades such as murals, exhibition installations, sculptures, canvases, pieces, trains, blackbook drawings, etc. Besides an interview-like conversation with Melissa Chiu you can find text contributions by Marina Isgro, Peter Michalski, Marguerite Itamar Harrison, Alan Ket, and Jochen Volz in the extensive monograph.
