With BLACKBOOK 03 – EKSER the publication series continues by the team behind one of the world’s biggest blogs on graffiti: ILOVEGRAFFITI. After years of documentation, research, producing and promoting the graffiti subculture, they decided to go straight back to the roots: A writer’s blackbook. In the pre-internet era of analog photography the blackbook had an unique status. It often featured the writer’s best works, drafts, sketches from friends or tags from heroes – a private portfolio.
For the third part of the ongoing series Southern Germany located EKSER was chosen to give insight into his work of the last 15 years. While being in the game for more than two decades the writer was recognized by broader audience when he massively got up on trains, train lines and highway walls with outstanding and eye-catching full colour styles for example between the metropolises Munich and Stuttgart.
Round about ten years ago the X-CREW member technically pushed the development of his pieces by the use and variation of different tools. BLACKBOOK 03 especially focuses on the recent years in which his organic and graphic styles became more abstract, vivid or lately even illustrative combining letter and figurative elements. Since he never uploaded photos most of the shown material, which also contains sketches and action shots, is completely unknown. Besides text contributions from writers like OTIS or XPOME in several interview parts EKSER shares thoughts on his work.
The hardcover book is carefully produced in Germany with a robust structured cover material inspired by old blackbooks and an additional silver tag debossing. A limited edition of 250 copies comes signed and numbered by EKSER and will also include two prints. The Regular Edition is the same book, but not signed, numbered and without prints.
