BACKJUMPS was a Berlin based graffiti magazine founded by the city’s first generation hip hop activist Adrian Nabi. From the late 1980s on Nabi pushed the local graffiti scene through his management agency, also known as AAM, and build up important connections to Paris and New York.

In 1994 he released the first BACKJUMPS magazine which was the starting point to an intense seven year journey in which 16 volumes came out. Together with legends like POET62 (aka JIMMY), JAYONE and PHOS4 he carefully curated the content always aiming to spotlight key figures of stylewriting in the German capital and abroad. The photographic content was accompanied by sketches as well as textual and theoretic content by and interviews with important and influential writers of this era.

BACKJUMPS 1994–2000 is a 840-paged collection of all issues which have been released in this seven year span. It consists of three high quality hardcover books in a stylish slipcase with a massive total weight of more than 7kg! You can also find additional content in the books like an introduction by Ruediger Glatz, an interview by Lukas Feireiss with the magazine’s original creators as well as texts from MODE2, JAYONE and Hugo Vitrani. On top of that a detailed index that allows to find your favourite writer’s or crew’s content from cities like Copenhagen, Munich, Amsterdam, Potsdam or Heidelberg was added.
