AEROSOLS – Daniel ROSKO Knorn

Original price was: 20,00 €.Current price is: 12,00 €.

No other tool is so closely associated with graffiti as the spray can. In times before companies produced graffiti cans writers were forced to try out the broad variety of existing automotive and hardware store spray cans in search for the highest quality of paint, opacity and various colours. Soon these memorabilia objects were gathered by a small circle of passionate collectors.

AEROSOLS is the first book focusing on collections of European cans published by East Berlin originator Daniel ROSKO Knorn who started writing in 1990, five years after his parents bought him his first cans at the age of 12. He meticulously tracked down major spray can companies, their model series and presents highlights he and like-minded writers collected over the years. Each chapter opens with additional information on selected brands and their history.

The 144-paged hardcover contains over 250 pictures, collected advertisements, colour charts and photos of cans which even date back to 1965. It starts with an introduction by Stephan Wilke and also features a short interview with Sami BEN Mansour, producer of the first graffiti SPARVAR spray can TUFF COLORS in 1993. Illustrations by ROSY ONE, FLYING FÖRTRESS, BLUES and the JBCB crew round off the lovely produced booklet.
In times where graffiti spray can companies regularly put out new collectible and cooperative editions it is refreshing to get insight into the origins of the can collecting subculture.

Featuring aerosol art colors, AUTO-K, belton, Brillux, DUPLI-COLOR, EISODUR, HIT Color, KRYLON, Marabu, MOLOTOW, montana, MOTIP, MULTONA, Peter Kwasny, presto, SPARVAR, TUFF COLORS, VEB Aerosol-Automat, and many more.
